Welcome! I am an artist from the great Atlanta, Georgia. Scroll down to learn more about me.
Hi there! I am Elma Orr, a self-taught artist, member of the DFAA, Dunwoody Fine Arts Association and of the Norcross Gallery & Studios. I have been painting for about 20 years. I paint in different styles, from traditional portraits to abstracts to outdoors murals. I also accept commissions, in any size.
In general, I use oils in the majority of my paintings, such as in portraits, landscapes, florals, etc. For larger works like abstracts and murals, I use acrylics or mixed media.
In the photo above are some oil paint brands that I use. My favorites are Van Gogh and Amsterdam because of their softness, which allows me to use it straight from the tube, without adding any linseed oil.
When I moved to the Atlanta area in 2012, one of the first things I did was tour the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial.
I found this enormous and wonderful mural and I felt an immediate connection to it.
The mural's bold colors and very detailed work kept my attention. So, it has inspired me a lot and has definitely contributed in the way how I express myself in my works.
